Support the Commissioning
Dear Patriot,
USS Lenah Sutcliffe HIGBEE (DDG-123), the Navy’s newest Aegis Guided Missile Destroyer, will be commissioned in Key West in May 2023. The new DDGs are the tip of the spear in our Navy’s power projection capability.
The Key West Council of the Navy League has the honor of leading the Commissioning Committee. The Committee sponsors the events that accompany the commissioning of the USS Lenah Sutcliffe HIGBEE.
Key West has a long and proud naval history, dating from 1822, and the USS Lenah Sutcliffe HIGBEE will be the fourth large warship to be commissioned here. The ship’s inspirational namesake, Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee, was the first female commander of the Navy Nurse Corps and the first living woman to receive the Navy Cross.
Your support for the commissioning of the USS Lenah Sutcliffe HIGBEE. will demonstrate Key West’s patriotism and support for our Navy.
Enclosed is our Donor Support Form which lists the invitations and gifts that come with certain levels of support. Please send your contribution to “HIGBEE Commissioning Committee” at the address below and provide your point of contact so that we may properly acknowledge your contribution.
Thank you for your support. With your help, it will be an outstanding celebration for the crew, their families, veterans, contributors and our community.
We look forward to celebrating the commissioning with you in our tropical paradise in late spring next year.
